The International School of Medicine, Bishkek, also known as ISMB was set up in 2003 as a structural division of the International University of Kyrgyzstan (IUK). ISMB serves the needs of the global and the local community by training the students to become clinicians who are thorough professionals, advocate for patients, practice evidence-based medicine, and follow moral and ethical health care standards. ISMB is also registered with a lot of leading international institutions, namely, the International Association for Medical Education (AMEE), the World Health Organization (WHO), the Ph.D. Program in Biomedicine and Health in the EU (ORPHEUS), Institute for International Medical Education (IIME), the Foundation for the Development of Medical Education and Science (FAIMER), etc.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
The campus of ISMB has well-equipped lecture halls, auditoriums, leisure facilities, modern practical laboratories, and a central library that supplies specific academic books along with manuals and other useful books that students may find interesting. The school even has its own hospital known as ISM Vedanta Hospital, located in the center of Bishkek. The hospital provides medical care to the people of Kyrgyzstan with a number of departments, namely, Cardiology, General Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Gynaecology, etc. ISM offers graduate, postgraduate, Ph.D., and short-term courses as well.
Accomplishments & Alumni
Those who pass out from ISMB successfully attempt PMDC, BMDC, and MCI courses in their homeland. ISM graduates are also trained at the University of Oxford, England at the International University of Florida, USA, at the University of Groningen, Netherlands, etc. ISM alumni are today working in Rajasthan government, Chi Baylor St Luke`s (Texas, USA), SRK Multispecialty Hospital (India), Lahore General Hospital, JINNAH Hospital (Pakistan), Interventional Pain Management, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (London, England) Bangkok Thailand Asia Cosmetic Hospital, (Thailand) where they work in cardiology, therapy, neurotrauma, ambulance, plastic surgery, etc.
Student Diversity & Visiting Companies
ISMB had a humble beginning with just 13 students, and currently, there are over 3,500 students from around the world pursuing medicine. The university accepts international students with open arms as there are students from more than 10 foreign countries, namely, Pakistan, the USA, India, Great Britain, Ukraine, Russia, Japan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Syria, Nepal, and Turkey. Since most of the students of the International School of Medicine are from these countries, the language of instruction is English.
